Lozere's lakes
Moulinet (Lot Valley)
This is a very pleasant and easily accessible lake of about 13 hectares nestling at an altitude of 1075m. Moulinet’s shallow, category one waters offers Rainbow, Pike, Perch and Chubb amongst others. Amidst a peaceful family friendly environment.
Naussac (Allier Valley)
With a surface area of 1050 hectares, Naussac is the largest lake in the department and carries a category one classification. It offers a multitude of fishing sites, immediately accessible from a D road that runs right along one side of the reservoir. Alternatively, there is the more untamed opposite bank, with feeder creaks seeping into the many bays. Naussac offers very good sport on the fly for Rainbow and Roach, and the less well represented Fario Trout (some of which grow to decent size)
Villefort (Cevenol Valleys)
With a surface area of 136 hectares, Villefort is the most remarkable lake in a chain of three that have been harnessed for hydro-electric production.
The lake’s superior natural environment produces remarkable, even exceptional, specimen Fario trout (5 kg – 14.3 kg) which represents a French record. Villefort does not give up it’s specimens easily, access is difficult, sometimes perilous, but there are strategic slipways used by water sport enthusiasts that can be used to launch small fishing craft. Villefort is a wonderful lake in a magnificent natural setting that offers the ultimate challenge of truly monstrous fish. You also have the opportunity to nymph for 5-8 lb rainbows in the accessible, granite pools of the Allier, at it’s inflow to the lake.
